Discover the main new features of the new season at Urban Runner’s Club in Alicante
First of all, it's important to clarify that the Urban Runner's Club in Alicante is actually a group organized for running training. It can also be considered a community of runners. However, it is not a federated club.
The Urban Runner’s Club Alicante is made up of a coach who works in coordination with those who sign up for the running training sessions.
The aim is to provide structured training to all those who share a desire to run, whether to improve their times or achieve their goals in a specific competition.
Runners from junior to veteran categories join. Because as we say at Be Urban Running: There is no age limit for running. And they all have one thing in common: the smile when they gather to start training.
Each runner has their own level, and if necessary, three or four groups are formed to train in a balanced way.
Our motto is: An Urban Runner never runs alone.
Why learn to run
Running seems very easy, and in fact, many people train on their own, without ever having learned from professionals. Some come to training with a friend. Others want to have a sports routine several days a week. And some also come who want some technical running help to be able to finish a 10K, a Half Marathon, or a Marathon.
There's the group that signs up because throughout the season they'll be able to attend the popular races that interest them with their training partners. Although running is an individual sport, many things are shared with other training partners. In this context, the sporting and human values of self-improvement, friendship, respect, and camaraderie often emerge.
And it's important to remember that training without knowledge can lead to injuries, whether from wearing unsuitable running shoes or from overtraining.
When and where running training sessions take place
They are held in different parts of Alicante city three days a week.
-Tuesdays and Thursdays: from 7:45 PM to 9:15 PM.
-Saturdays: from 8:45 AM to 10:15 AM in winter. And a bit earlier in summer to avoid the heat.
Locations: the meeting point alternates to offer different scenarios and routes, varying the difficulty and environment of the training.
They take place in places like:
Alicante athletics track.
Parque de lo Morant.
Parque de los perros in San Juan.
There are a few more locations. And they are usually chosen where it is easy to park.

"It's the key"
During training, when Nico talks about some of the different phases of training, he says "it's the key." He means that in training, it's key to do intervals, it's key to do hills, it's key to do long runs when it's time, it's key to eat well, it's key to do some weights, it's key to get enough rest, it's key not to overtrain... All of that is the key to improving as a runner.
