Nike Streakfly versus adidas Takumi Sen 8

Here's a comparison of two flying competition shoes for a 5k or 10k race. These are two shoes with very similar features that bring back the low-profile and minimalist design of classic flying shoes.

With these two models, both brands aim to satisfy the needs and tastes of a few elite athletes who are looking for lightweight, fast shoes with new technologies but with a less maximalist construction, which has been so fashionable lately.

Both shoes are established models that have been completely redesigned. They have evolved quite a bit from their previous versions.

As a great curiosity, we can tell you that both weigh the same, 185 gr.

HERE ARE OUR COMPETITION SHOES

Who are they for?

For once, we'll start by explaining the profile of the runner looking for this type of shoe. Because it's obviously a very small group.

These are shoes for elite athletes. Especially for those runners who want to feel the ground more with each stride.

Recreational runners can also access them. And many will want to wear them in their competitions up to a 10k. But it will be good for them to be clear that these are two pure and simple competition shoes that are only suitable for runners with very good running technique. And they will only be optimal for runners who can cover a 10K in under 35 minutes.

Nike Streakfly

Nike Streakfly

Here we have Nike's latest racing running shoes. And as you can see in the image, they make it very clear that they are made for competing in short races from 5 km to 10 km.

They weigh 185 gr. and have an 8mm drop.

At first glance, they appear to be low-profile, agile, and very light. They aim to recapture the spirit of classic flying competition shoes: low-profile, aggressive, and ultra-fast.

The new Streakfly are the evolution of the Streak and Streak LT, models highly valued among the American brand's most loyal athletes.

The Nike Streakfly have all these characteristics without being as rigid as carbon plate shoes.

The upper is made of ultrafine and lightweight Knit mesh fabric. It will also provide the support you need to run.

The midsole is made of full ZoomX foam, which achieves that lightness and reactivity. The stack height of the foam is lower than in the Vaporfly, which saves weight and adds aggressiveness.

The outsole has a solid grip pattern at all stages of the stride.

adidas Takumi Sen 8

It's a shoe with more technological components than the Nikes. This is because it has energy rods within its midsole to provide reactivity to each stride.

The word Adizero is part of its name. For the German brand, it defines the most technical articles designed to achieve maximum speed.

The adidas Adizero Takumi Sen 8 are made for running at breakneck speeds in 5K and 10K races. Lighter runners can even take them to a half marathon.

Ideal for those who run at paces of 4:00 min/km or less.

They weigh 185 gr. and their drop is 6mm, a figure closer to the drop of classic minimalist flying shoes.

The midsole is made with Lightstrike Pro cushioning foam and ENERGYRODS, you'll feel a greater sense of power and propulsion in each of your strides.

The upper is a textile mesh material with at least 50% recycled materials.

The outsole will give you all the grip and traction you need thanks to its Continental rubber compound.

As the best example of an athlete who runs with the Takumi, we have the Ethiopian Senbere Teferi. On September 12, 2021, in an exclusively women's race, she broke the universal 5k record with a time of 14 minutes and 29 seconds.
