When they tell me about the types of outsoles, I won't look like an idiot anymore
A simple way to choose padel shoes
To start, any sports shoe will do.
But as we gain a level and habit of playing, that basic material falls short, and we need something more specific. The choice of a good shoe.
What do I need? Some guidelines for when they tell me about the types of outsoles, so I don't look like an idiot.
The characteristics I need are Comfort, Grip and Stability.
The shoes must provide flexibility for running, jumping, stopping…
They must secure our feet in any sudden movement.
They must grip the court, the ground, to prevent slipping. The outsole is very important for grip on artificial grass, and there are several types of outsoles that we will be told about when we go to a store, and we should know them.
Omni outsole. This outsole has small dots, like mini studs, it is the most suitable for gripping the court given the depth of the tread.
However, they don't slide as much as the herringbone outsole when stretching for a ball; I will have the feeling of being stuck to the ground.
Herringbone outsole. Striped outsole, it is very valid and durable for playing and the most used. It is harder to start, but they adapt to any surface and slide better.
Mixed outsole. A mix of the two, generally they have omni on the front inner part, and the rest is striped to favor sliding.
