VICTORIAS KENIATAS EN AZKOITIA-AZPEITIA 2015

There were no surprises. Emmanuel Bett won the XXII Azkoitia-Azpeitia Half Marathon "Diego García" after breaking away from more than halfway through the race, finishing in a time of 1 h 00' 08". The Kenyan athlete ran at a record pace – under 2'55" – for more than ten kilometers, but ultimately could not get under the hour mark, a goal he sought beyond the victory.

His compatriots Stephen Omiso and Edwin Kipsang completed a stellar podium, with times of 1h 00' 52" and 1h 01':01" respectively.

In the women's category, Monika Jepkoech completed the "Kenyan feat" with a time of 1h 10' 30", ahead of Zewdnesh Ayele, whom she beat by more than a minute at the finish line. Third place went to Arrasate athlete Nerea Arregi with 1h 22' 36".
