Media Maratón de Valencia 2026: dónde dormir, comer y correr durante el fin de semana

Valencia Half Marathon 2026: where to stay, eat, and run during the weekend

The Valencia Half Marathon 2026 is much more than 21.097 kilometers. For many runners, it's also a multi-day getaway to one of Spain's most running-obsessed cities.

On October 25, 2026, Valencia will once again welcome thousands of runners to compete in the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich Half Marathon. The start and finish lines will be located on Avenida dels Tarongers, next to the campuses of the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the University of Valencia.

If you're traveling to run it, your running shoes and race bib probably aren't the only things you'll need to organize. Which area is worth staying in? Where can you go for a jog the day before? Where can you eat? And what can you do after crossing the finish line?

At BeUrban, we've prepared a guide to help you enjoy the entire Valencia Half Marathon weekend without losing sight of what's truly important: arriving on Sunday eager to run.

Valencia Half Marathon 2026: The First Things You Should Know

The 2026 edition will be held on Sunday, October 25, covering a certified distance of 21,097.5 meters. The organizers have placed both the start and finish lines on Avenida dels Tarongers.

This location is important when looking for accommodation. Staying right in the historic center might seem like the most attractive option for sightseeing, but if the main goal of the trip is to run, it's also worth looking at areas like Benimaclet, Pla del Real, Camins al Grau, the City of Arts and Sciences, or the university surroundings.

The less complicated race morning is, the better. And there's another detail to keep in mind: the 21K Expo is held at Feria Valencia, where you pick up your bib and runner's bag. For 2026, the organization announced its opening on Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Where to Stay to Run the Valencia Half Marathon

There isn't one perfect hotel for everyone. If you're traveling exclusively to compete, you might want to prioritize proximity to Tarongers. If you're planning to spend several days in Valencia, you might prefer a halfway point between the race and the city center.

Here are some interesting options based on location.

Hotel Olympia Universidades: a practical location

* 4.2 · Hotel

Located in Benimaclet, this can be an especially practical alternative for a race weekend. It's on Doctor Vicent Zaragoza street, and its location allows you to stay relatively close to the university area without sacrificing good connectivity to the rest of Valencia.

This is the type of accommodation we would prioritize if the main goal of the trip revolves around the Half Marathon.

SH Valencia Palace: between the center and the race area

* 4.4 · Hotel

Another interesting location is Paseo de la Alameda. Staying here allows you to be close to the Turia Garden and have easy access to both the city center and other areas of Valencia.

Furthermore, if you want to do a short run along the old riverbed during the weekend, you practically have one of the city's great running areas right next door.

Barceló Valencia: next to the City of Arts

* 4.4 · Hotel

It's on Avenida de Francia, opposite the City of Arts and Sciences area. It's a good option to combine racing and sightseeing, while also staying in the eastern part of Valencia.

From this area, you also have easy access to the Turia Garden and can head towards the Marina and the beaches.

Hotel Primus Valencia: in Camins al Grau

* 4.2 · Hotel

Also in Camins al Grau, Hotel Primus Valencia allows for a fairly complete weekend without staying in the historic city center.

The area is well-situated between the City of Arts and Sciences, the port, and the maritime surroundings, making it particularly attractive if you want to continue enjoying Valencia after competing.

Tip: Regardless of the hotel you choose, check a few weeks beforehand how you'll get to the start line on Sunday. Traffic closures and transportation changes associated with a race can alter your usual route.

Where to Run in Valencia Before the Half Marathon

Valencia allows you to do something we love when traveling for a race: discover the city by running.

However, the Saturday before a half marathon is not the time to explore every corner of Valencia with lots of kilometers. If you usually do a small shake-out run, these two areas are perfect for a very gentle run and adjusting the distance to what your plan dictates.

Route 1: Old Turia Riverbed

The Turia Garden is probably the most emblematic place to run in Valencia.

The old riverbed crosses the city from west to east and offers over nine kilometers of green areas. Its practically flat course and the possibility of running on different surfaces mean it's common to find runners throughout much of the day.

Additionally, within the garden, we find the Circuit 5K Jardí del Turia, which runs from near the Nou d'Octubre bridge to Gulliver Park. It's 5,731 meters of specially conditioned running track, with a surface designed to reduce the impact of running.

For the Half Marathon weekend, you don't need to run the entire thing. You can use a small section for a very gentle 20 or 30 minutes, some strides if they're part of your usual routine, and then head back to the hotel.

And if you're visiting Valencia without competing, then yes: it's worth exploring it more leisurely.

Route 2: Valencia Marina + Malvarrosa Beach

If you prefer running by the Mediterranean, this would be our second choice.

The Valencia Marina route covers the inner dock for approximately 2.85 kilometers, mainly on asphalt or concrete. From there, you can directly connect to the promenade and Malvarrosa beach, adding around 2.4 kilometers more.

It's a perfect route to adapt on the fly: you can just do the Marina, continue along the promenade, or extend it as planned.

Furthermore, it has a special appeal during a competition weekend. Going out early, running a few very gentle kilometers by the sea, and returning to the hotel can be a good way to activate your legs without turning the day before into another training session.

Where to Eat During the Valencia Half Marathon Weekend

Here, we want to steer clear of the typical "healthy restaurants for runners" list.

A runner doesn't need to spend the weekend eating exclusively white rice and chicken breast. The important thing before competing is not to experiment with foods or quantities you're not used to consuming.

That's why our selection combines Italian restaurants, Mediterranean cuisine, and some places where you can take advantage of your visit to enjoy Valencian gastronomy.

San Tommaso

* 4.5 · Italian restaurant

Right in the historic center, on Corretgeria street, San Tommaso is an Italian restaurant specializing in pizzas and Italian cuisine.

It can be a particularly good fit for a meal on Friday or Saturday if you usually eat pasta or pizza before competing. The added advantage is that you can easily combine it with a visit to Ciutat Vella.

However: the eve of a half marathon is not the best time to order something completely different from what your digestive system is used to.

Santa Rita Valencia

* 4.7 · Italian restaurant

Also in Ciutat Vella, we find Santa Rita, another Italian option that can fit very well during the weekend.

Pasta, pizza, and Italian cuisine make it easy to find relatively simple alternatives for a pre-competition meal, always depending on your habits.

If you're thinking of having dinner here on Saturday, I would book in advance. The Half Marathon weekend brings many visitors to the city.

Casa Bassa Restaurant

* 4.5 · Restaurant

Leaving the center, we move closer to the sea.

Casa Bassa is located on Paseo de Neptuno, so it can be perfectly combined with a visit to the Marina and the beach.

Precisely because of its location, we find it more interesting for enjoying the trip at a leisurely pace rather than as a recommendation strictly focused on pre-competition nutrition.

Casa Carmela

* 4.4 · Valencian cuisine restaurant

If after running 21 kilometers you want to celebrate the race with Valencian gastronomy, here we have one of the most classic plans in this guide.

Casa Carmela is located next to Malvarrosa and specializes in Valencian and Mediterranean cuisine, with a special focus on rice dishes.

We particularly like it as a post-race plan: finishing the Half Marathon, returning to the hotel, showering, and then sitting calmly facing the Mediterranean to enjoy a Valencian meal.

Casa Baldo 1915

* 4.1 · Restaurant

And if you prefer to celebrate the race right in the city center, Casa Baldo 1915 is on Ribera street, next to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

Its Mediterranean and Valencian offerings, with rice dishes and tapas, make it a great fit for a lunch or dinner where you want to combine gastronomy and a stroll through the historic center.

As a personal recommendation, we invite you to try their wonderful and creamy cheesecake, as the race is over here: we can forget about the stopwatch for a bit and enjoy ourselves.

What to do the day before the Valencia Half Marathon

There's a fairly common mistake when we travel to compete: arriving in a new city and wanting to see absolutely everything on Saturday.

Valencia invites you to walk. The historic center, the Turia, Ruzafa, the City of Arts, the Marina, Malvarrosa... but sightseeing for hours can end up becoming a workout that wasn't on your plan.

Saturday should be relatively simple. Pick up your bib early, do a short run only if it's part of your usual routine, hydrate throughout the day, and avoid trying new foods or gear.

And, especially, don't wear new shoes on Sunday.

According to our expert Alberto Navarro: the weekend is not the time to change anything

Half marathon preparation doesn't end with the last quality training session. The hours leading up to it are also part of it.

Your shoes should be sufficiently tested, as should your socks, clothes, hydration strategy, and the products you plan to use during the race.

The same goes for that small Saturday run: it's not meant to improve your fitness 24 hours before the start. Its function is simply to activate your body and maintain your usual sensations if it's part of your routine.

A weekend for running, but also for enjoying Valencia, the Valencia Half Marathon 2026 can be the perfect excuse to turn a race into a trip.

You can wake up and run by the Mediterranean, explore the old Turia riverbed, then get lost in the historic center, and finish the weekend celebrating your 21 kilometers around a table.

But there's one idea worth remembering: the race is on Sunday. You don't need to run the entire Turia on Friday, cover all of Malvarrosa on Saturday, and arrive at the start with 30 kilometers accumulated from sightseeing. Save your legs for Tarongers and leave part of Valencia for after you cross the finish line.

And if you need to prepare for your Half Marathon, renew your running shoes, or have questions about what gear to use for your 21K, at BeUrban you can find specialized advice and the latest running innovations.

Because a good Half Marathon weekend starts long before the starting gun.
